Languages for Life *

In all courses, pupils receive three fifty minute periods of language learning where pupils build on their language knowledge by increasing their vocabulary and grammar and enhancing their four language skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Talking). The S3 Modern Languages courses blend pupils learning ensuring they access a stimulating level 4 curriculum as well as preparing pupils for National Certificates.

*Languages for Life.

This course is by invitation only.

This course aims to develop pupils’ language learning whilst also focusing on improving their global literacy in order for them to enhance their literacy skills before moving on to complete National qualifications in S4. The course has been designed specifically for pupils who we feel would benefit from enhanced literary provision or for pupils who would be unsuited to the demands of a whole S3 Modern Languages Curriculum.

As part of the course, pupils will have the opportunity to learn French, German and Spanish whilst also working towards a variety of Modern Languages qualifications and also spending time working on key elements of literacy such as reading and spelling.

The Modern Languages Department aims to ensure that pupils select a course which is relevant, encourages pupils to achieve well and meets the needs of each individual learner. With this in mind, the S3 Languages for Life course is open to pupils who have been identified by Modern Languages and Guidance staff as pupils who would benefit from an alternative S3 course.
